Characteristics of SMALTODESIGN® panels

Resistance to fire and thermal shock:
SMALTODESIGN® enamelled panels are fire proof (class zero). Temperature excursions ranging between -50°C and +450°C will not damage the surface.

Resistance to corrosion:
SMALTODESIGN® panels will not suffer damage by most acids, alkalis, salts, organic solvents, paints and atmospheric agents. The perfect composite material of enamelled steel prevents any formation of rust even in presence of high temperatures and humidity.

Resistance to abrasion and wear:
The strenuous resistance (5,5-7,5 hardness of the Mohs scale) to vandalism, time-induced wear, abrasion and to all types of contamination are important physical characteristics.

Colour fastness:
The panels can be produced in a wide range of colours with glossy, opaque or semi-opaque finish. Thirty years of test history prove that neither UV rays nor atmospheric agents affect their colour or glossiness.

Non-toxicity:
Thanks to their smooth surface without porosities, SMALTODESIGN® vitreous enamel panels cannot be contaminated by bacteria or fungus. They are waterproof and do not absorb odours.

Electrical properties and thermal conductivity:
SMALTODESIGN® vitreous enamel panels have insulating properties. Their thermal conductivity is low and inversely proportional to the thickness of the enamel coating.

Maintenance:
Water and mild detergents are generally enough to clean the panels. However, their resistance to acids and bases also allows the use of organic solvents or disinfectants.
